A glorious day spent visiting our sister island which is reputed to be the home of the famous King Odysseus, and which enchanted the poet Byron.
We drive to Sami from where we take the ferry across the straits to the port of Piso Aetos. Driving towards the north with spectacular views out to Kefalonia, our first stop is the village of Stavros to see the bust of Odysseus , the local village museum and the village’s traditional church. Kioni , a picturesque fishing village on the northern coastline , is our next stop where you can enjoy coffee in one of the waterfront cafes.
Lunchtime will be in Vathy the capital. Here you will have time to wander in the local shops, visit the archaeological museum and perhaps enjoy lunch at one of the many waterside tavernas.
